Media Financing and Independence in Armenia

The closing event of the “Media Financing and Independence” project implemented by the Institute of Liberal Politics and Friedrich Nauman’s “For Freedom” Foundation took place on the 21st of November.
The representative of the Institute of Liberal Politics Vardan Lablajyan delivered an opening speech and shortly represented the project stressing the importance of it.

The head of the South Caucasus office of Friedrich Nauman’s “For Freedom” Foundation Katrin Bannach was also present at the event and made a greeting speech. She emphasized that the issue is an international matter that concerns Armenia as well. In this regard, she especially noted that Armenia strives for free media.

 The project coordinator of the Institute of Liberal Politics Mher Baghdasaryan spoke about project activities, research data, and policy papers developed within the project.

After the presentation, an active phase of Q&A started. There were questions about possible legislative amendments, approaches of different countries, self-regulation mechanisms, etc. Participants were also highly interested in the research, its methodology, and its outcomes.

At the end of the ceremony, participants got their copies of the policy paper. The online version will be accessible online on the official Website of the Institute of Liberal Politics.
