Finances and independence of media

We are delighted to announce the start of a new project on “Finances and independence of media” that is supported by Friedrich Naumann Foundation. The main idea of the project is to assist promotion of financial sustainability and independence of media based on unbiased and comprehensive information. The goal of the project is to create an effective tool for ensuring media independence through legislative and practice amendment. In the frame of the project the following steps are to be conducted.

1. Collect expert opinion on what are the most urgent and necessary measure that should be taken in order to secure media financial sustainability and promote independence of media.

2. Collect public opinion on how financing of media by certain people of entities affect their streaming and independence.

3. Develop an evidence-based policy paper with a preliminary title “Finances and independence of media”.

4. Inform counterparts and stakeholders and communicate on finding of the project.

The timeframe of the project is from June 20th to September 30th, 2023. By the end of the project an handbook title “Finances and independence of media” will be developed. The handbook will reflect the outcomes of the research and will purpose solutions based on needs and study of national and international practice.
