Establishing Cooperation for Combating Hate Speech
Today, on 24th November, a round table discussion devoted to the launch of the “Combating hate speech for the sake of pluralism and tolerant democratic society” was held in the “Marriott” hotel, Yerevan took place. Representatives of accredited diplomatic missions in Armenia, state and public bodies, as well as CSOs in Armenia, were present.
During the discussion chairperson of the “Institute of Liberal Politics” NGO Tatevik Matinyan gave an opening speech. She represented the project and its components.
A greeting speech was made by the deputy head of mission of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Armenia George Monsanto, who emphasized the need and urgency of the presented project.
A speech was made also by the assistant of the Ombudsman of Armenia Heghine Yengoyan, who highly assessed the work of the institute in the field of combating the spread of hate speech.
The cofounder of the “Spring PR” Nvard Melqonyan and the project’s expert Norayr Baghdasaryan have represented the methodology and tools of researching public opinion and media monitoring.
The discussion was coordinated by the deputy chairperson of the “Institute of Liberal Politics” NGO Ruzanna Avagimyan. Participants put forth various questions and offers.
“Combating hate speech for the sake of pluralism and tolerant democratic society” is funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Armenia.
