Hate speech reporting meeting

On May 17, a hate speech reporting meeting was held at Ibis Hotel with representatives of Armenian civil society, politicians, students, employees of state bodies and interested persons presenting the monitoring results and the series of books they authored. Director of the Institute of Liberal Politics Tatevik Matinyan delivered his welcoming remarks to the attendees, expressing gratitude for their presence and cooperation.nst hate speech.

Assistant of the Ombudsperson, Heghine Yengoyan, also welcomed the attendees, saying her satisfaction with the work done. The Institute’s work in the fight against hate speech and the steps that the Institute of Liberal Politics continuously performs was presented. 

Monitoring specialist Norayr Baghdasaryan, lawyer Ruzanna Avagimyan, sociologist Nvard Melkonyan, Turkologist Aren Petunts, expert of “Media Initiative Center” Lusine Grigoryan and the President of “KANANI” NGO Kristine Baghdasaryan delivered their speeches. The presented literature included the 7-month work, as a result of which the report of sociological research “Speech has power”, “The perceptions of hate speech of the population of the Republic of Armenia and the attitude towards manifestations of hate speech in media sources and public speeches”, “Hate Speech in Media Platforms, Sociological Networks, TV” and “Emotional Literacy as a Measure to Prevent Bullying” were published. After the speech, the attendees were given the published literature, wishing everyone a successful process in the fight against hate speech.
